Jeffrey Dovitz’s practice primarily involves real estate transactions and litigation, foreclosure actions, evictions and landlord issues, collection law, and representation of small businesses. Whether it is assisting a buyer or seller with their real estate closing, representing a lender in foreclosure, or enforcing a landlord’s rights against his/her tenant, Jeff strives to provide his clients with the best legal representation, counsel, and client experience that he can.
Having spent over 15 years working for and representing banks and mortgage lenders in foreclosures, bankruptcies, real estate litigation, and collection actions, Jeff utilizes his vast experience and knowledge to best serve his clients with pragmatic legal advice and zealous advocacy in court. In addition to representing mortgage lenders, Jeff has a passion for representing real estate buyers and sellers. Jeff has been a licensed Illinois Realtor® since 2007 and uses that experience to navigate his clients through their real estate transaction. Regardless of the legal matter, Jeff believes that a well-informed client is essential to a harmonious attorney-client relationship.
Jeff earned his Bachelor of Science from Miami University (Ohio) and his Juris Doctor from DePaul University College of Law. Jeff is a member of several bar and legal associations including the Lake County Bar Association where he regularly presents at the Association’s Debtor-Creditor Committee meetings on case law updates and other developments in debtor-creditor law. Jeff also has participated in the Chicago Bar Association’s Law Student Career Immersion Mentoring program and the Lake County Bar Association’s Foreclosure Help Desk, Ask-A-Lawyer events, and community outreach events. Jeff frequently presents to realtors and other real estate professionals on topics such as the use of limited liability companies for real estate investments and utilizing publicly available resources to ascertain information about real estate.
In his spare time, Jeff enjoys travel and photography. Jeff is a volunteer instructor at Richard Stromberg’s Chicago Photography Classes where he teaches new photographers how to use computer software to edit their photographs.
