Cohen Dovitz Makowka was formed in April 2017 as a result of a merger between attorneys David T. Cohen, Sandra L. Makowka, and Jeffrey B. Dovitz. David founded his law firm in 1980 and built his practice and reputation primarily through the referrals of satisfied clients, banks, professionals and other attorneys who recognized David’s skill in the areas of commercial and residential foreclosures, bankruptcies and other collection litigation. In 2005, Sandra joined David’s firm and quickly rose to be managing attorney, overseeing all client matters, workflow, and employees. Sandra’s detailed approach to the practice of law and client-oriented results promptly made her a favorite among the firm’s clients. In 2013, after gaining a vast breadth of experience in the larger foreclosure firm environment, Jeffrey started his own practice. Utilizing his extensive experience with foreclosures, evictions, collections, and real estate transactions and litigation, Jeffrey built his practice into a well-respected firm serving clients throughout the Chicagoland area.
