Cohen Dovitz Makowka, LLC is an Illinois law firm focused on the representation of financial institutions, creditors, real estate investors, landlords, and small businesses with a primary concentration on providing experienced, diligent, complete and aggressive representation in the areas of foreclosure, bankruptcy, real estate, title claims, municipal code violations, administrative hearings, evictions, loss mitigation and general civil litigation to clients seeking direct access and immediate responses on all matters related to the representation.
Cohen Dovitz Makowka, LLC formed in April 2017 as a result of a merger between attorneys David T. Cohen, Sandra L. Makowka, and Jeffrey B. Dovitz. David T. Cohen founded his law firm in 1980 and built his practice and reputation primarily through the referrals of satisfied clients, banks, professionals and other attorneys who recognized David’s skill in the areas of commercial and residential foreclosures, bankruptcies and other collection litigation. In 2005, Sandra L. Makowka joined David’s firm and quickly rose to be managing attorney overseeing all client matters, workflow, and employees. Her detailed approach to the practice of law and client-oriented results promptly made her a favorite among the firm’s clients. Jeffrey B. Dovitz hung his shingle in 2013 having gained a vast breadth of experience in the larger foreclosure firm environment. Utilizing his extensive experience with foreclosures, evictions, collections, and real estate transactions and litigation, Jeffrey built his practice into a well-respected firm serving clients in Cook, Lake, Will and DuPage Counties.
